K10D waterhousing

I had the pleasure today of dropping off a K10D with Sean Labrie of SPL Waterhousings (www.splwaterhousings.com). Sean is located in San Diego, CA and produces custom housings for some of the best watersports photographers. We're having Sean build a custom housing for the K10D, which will be used by well known Maui surfing and windsurfing photographer, Erik Aeder (www.erikaeder.com).

Erik will join us at the Pentax booth for the upcoming PMA trade show in Las Vegas (March 8-11). Erik will present show attendees with a range of photos he shot with the K10D and SPL housing combo, as well as his experience to date shooting with the K10D. Mark Dimalanta, who was our featured photographer at CES, will also present at PMA showing and talking about his K10D photos.

As I'm sure there are a few surfing and in-water photographers that have interest in how this housing works out, I'll post samples of the finished K10D housing when it's completed, as well as a few examples of Erik's work if he allows me to share them with you.

Photo (below) shows an almost finished housing for the D200, with the side-mount grip.

Pentax at CES

CES (Consumer Electronics Show) ended today in Las Vegas. Although I have not seen final attendance figures, they expected 200,000 attendees at this trade show, which is the biggest of its kind in the US. We featured a new booth design, which occupied the biggest space since Pentax started attending CES 5 years ago. We will be back in Las Vegas, March 8-11th, for PMA. These photos of the booth were taken at the end of the show, however we were busy all four days with end-users, dealers and press. In addition to putting on product demos every day, we invited photographer Mark Dimalanta to present a selection of his recent Hawaii photographs and share with attendees his experience shooting with the Pentax K10D.
