About Libya and the No-Fly Zone

about Libya:

my whole thing is, from the beginning - this is NOT our problem.

I know enough about politics and Geopolitics, especially OIL-based politics.

here's the thing - this is NOT ' our' oil.

this is Europe's oil.
this is China's oil.

we BARELY have diplomatic relations with Libya, and somehow, it's OUR problem?

puleeze.

I was watching Roland Martin's show, and how come it's up to the Black folks to break it down. NOWHERE ELSE did I hear it broken down like it was on his panel today.

1. why is this US's problem?
2. How come the ARABS can't enforce the NO-FLY ZONE? they have enough weapons...how do we know this? WE SOLD IT TO THEM.
3. how is it with us barely having diplomatic relations with Libya, does it fall on THIS President.

Cynthia Tucker said it - we only have diplomatic relations with Libya because of George W. Bush...so, if this is anyone's problem, it's HIS.

I am disappointed in our involvement in this, but I don't blame the President, and I'm not going crazy like other folks, mainly because everything that had to happen in order for this President to actually AGREE to this - happened. So, what's the man supposed to do?

I think that the Arab League was shocked that folks took them seriously...AND AT THEIR WORD that they wanted a NO-FLY ZONE. IMO, they thought that the old reliables - CHINA and/or RUSSIA would provide the objecting vote on the Security Council, and then they'd be able to go ' oh well, we wanted a NO-FLY ZONE, but it didn't make it out of the Security Council'. When the abstentions happened, and the NO-FLY Zone passed, they went ' OH SHIT'. Now, we have these suckers trying to do the backtrack to which I say - HELL TO THE NAW on that.

I am not happy, but there are some things in which I'm tired of folks trying to hang on this President, especially when it comes to foreign policy. I don't want no damn Cowboy. I want someone who gets that folks in the rest of the world should have the option for self-determination, even if it's messy. I believe this President understands that.

Frustration Mounts as We See What Really Happens in Haiti Rescue Efforts

From Denny: Up at dawn and because of government red tape with the United Nations, this German rescue team was not able to begin work in this city outside the capitol until after noon. They were sent to a city too late to help. Frustrated, the rescuers left wondering why they were sent here when they could be of more use elsewhere. Precious time was wasted and who knows how many more died waiting rescue.

Here's a tough example of what rescuers face as they try to retrieve crushed survivors. This is Dr. Marc Grossman speaking from the USAR South Florida Task Force 2:

5 Videos: G20 Conference Highlights, World Sanctions Against Iran, Obamas Vision, Diplomatic Security Story, How Irans People Will Fare Under New Sanctions

From Denny: First up, the G20 took aim at American CEOs ridiculously high compensation bonuses. Isn't it something that it takes outside countries to lobby for the American people when our own representatives in Congress lobby against us? Some seriously screwed up priorities in politics these days. What the G20 did try to address are some better standards for the global economy to keep the chaos down to a minimum.

Of course, Europe isn't exactly the standard bearer to defend the American people. They are really defending their own wallets when their treasuries invest in America. Hey, a left-handed warrior is better than none. The American people will take all the defenders from all quarters at this point: "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" works nicely here.

Here's the beginning coverage of the G20 conference where President Obama set out a sweeping new vision for America's foreign policy.

This is a bit of a grinner as the delegates gathered:

This is an exclusive report from CBS News about the United Nations security, where most of the delegates met prior to the G20 conference. Talk about a nightmare! I still remember being in Rome, Italy when the Pope died and observed how the Italians shut down the entire city as diplomats, world leaders and well-wishers began to flood the city:

Here's a good report on what world sanctions could mean for Iran's people. They are already groaning under the weight of a bad economy where everything costs alarmingly more than it did in previous better times.

Video: Irans Speech Rejected by United Nations Delegates, No Thanks!

From Denny: Iran's President spoke to ghosts as most of the chairs were empty and the news footage clearly shows delegates leaving in droves as he began to speak. Clearly, no one is interested in what this puppet has to say about anything nor do they don't take him seriously. At best he comes across as irrational and weird.

It's sham governments that terrorize their own people - like Iran and Libya - that get on to high positions on the Security Council or Human Rights Council that makes a mockery of what the United Nations is supposed to represent. It's like the Bible says, "And they will call evil as if it were goodness, and goodness as if it were truly evil." Talk about screwed up priorities.

Let's hear it for the Gadafi weirdo rant at the United Nations. Clearly, it's time the United Nations begin to vett their speakers with a sanity test before they are allowed to address the assembly:

Video: Iran Protestors Outside United Nations

From Denny: Iranians came from all over America, Canada and elsewhere to protest the Iranian regime speech at the United Nations. These people are still fighting to get their country back to the right side of decency and sanity.
