From Denny: It's been a wild ride changing internet providers and I was off line for 10 days. I tell ya when you slow down to snail time it takes a while to gear back up to a fast pace. So, rather than try to catch up I've decided to round up what there is and not sweat what there isn't. Gee, can you tell I absorbed "Greek Time" when I visited Santorini several years ago? Greek Time is extremely slow, unhurried and a definite "I'll get around to it" attitude. :)

American economy fragile

From Denny: The G20 summit meeting was a sad joke when it came to world economic cooperation of how to avoid a Great Depression. Most of the countries decided to pull in and self-protect by refusing to put government money into their economy. Instead, they have decided to cut deficits first. What that does is completely dry up the economy. It's simple: No money going into the economy, no money moving in the economy = no money at all.

President Obama is willing to put money into the American economy through his version of the Spend Money economic model. The reason the economy is doing so poorly at the moment, other than from job loss, is that the Big Banks took stimulus money and plunked it down onto their profit line. The Big Banks are still holding onto the money and refusing to make loans to small businesses to hire or expand, to individuals to buy cars or homes.

As a result, the economy is staggering like a gasping dying man about to fall over. Without the government pumping large amounts of money into the economy to create jobs this economy will end up crashing off the cliff like the European economies are about to do.

Gun Rights

Because of cutbacks to city and state funding there are now fewer police in violent areas of the country. The Supreme Court overturned a city of Chicago ruling about no handguns within the city limits. Unfortunately, because of cutbacks, average citizens have to find ways to protect themselves from violent drug gangs and drug dealers in their neighborhoods. A gun in the house may be the only way.

Russian spies in America caught

We've all had a good laugh with this one and the cartoonists are lampooning the Russian low tech nonsensical efforts the most. Nothing like Cold War retreads.

Supreme Court nominee hearings for Elena Kagan:

Kagan has taken an unkind grilling from the racist bigoted Republican senators like Lindsay Graham of South Caroline who decided that Kagan was not Christian enough for him. I found the hearings informative, not so much on Kagan who responded much like I figured she would, but rather what vile thoughts the GOP has been thinking reveals their future plans.

CNN anchor Larry King retires:

The cartoonists had a field day with his many marriages and many divorces. The guy is something yet still charming and likable. He had a long career of 25 years as a host of a talk show where he interviewed world celebrities.

McChrystal firing:

A few cartoonists have registered their thoughts on how the McChrystal firing affects the Afghan War, America and Obama.

Tea Party racists and weirdo nutjobs:

The Tea Party continues to entertain us with the outrageous and the bizarre doings of little mean minds. The weirdest statement of the week was from GOP minority leader Boehner when he said, "Obama's financial regulation reform is like killing an ant with a nuclear weapon."

He was implying that the Wall Street giants are benign and don't negatively impact America or the world. Chalk it up to yet another puppet politician bought and paid for by the lobbyists. The crazy insane things these guys will say out loud for the exchange of money is unbelievable! :)

American and World Politics Cartoons - 26 June 2010

*** More Bozo Sapien Awards given out to world politicians and Big Business CEOs in their never-ending journey of how to embarrass themselves and their countries.

From Denny: BP's CEO Tony Hayward and all of Britain is deliriously happy that General McChrystal's idiot two-month long interview with The Rolling Stone Magazine got them off the front pages of the news - for now. Leave it to Hayward to do and say something else as heartless and insensitive as last week. Give him time; he will do it again - and again. The guy can't help himself as his ego is that bloated with self-importance and arrogance.

He's the one giving Britain a bad name. Not even the quality people like former First Lady Cherie Blair, of The Loomba Foundation, can be in the news enough to counter the bad taste in the mouth for Americans on the Gulf Coast of Britain's rush to take care of themselves first and always.

By the way, Cherie Blair's foundation is concerned about the plight of young widows with children all over the world, numbering in the millions. See this post at The Healing Waters blog: Exploding Number of Young Widows in the World This Brit is a class act. She exemplifies what is the best from the United Kingdom juxtaposed to Hayward's worst example of low character depravity.

Back to politicians and leaders embarrassing themselves in the news... The latest insult is to claim that Afghanistan has over $1 trillion in unmined mineral deposits just to justify to war weary regular Americans to stay in the war longer. Remember that same Pentagon argument for the Iraq War? They promised the oil fields of Iraq would defray the cost and even completely pay for the Iraq War if only America would invade Iraq.

Now, years later, at the cost of $9 billion a month we are still bleeding money from the national treasury and spilling the blood of our soldiers in this stupid war. Now the Pentagon and Big Business came up with another lunatic ad promotion to sell the public on staying in Afghanistan because we will all get rich as we send our Big Business mine owners over there to mine for America. Is there truly anyone left in America stupid and gullible enough to believe these stink-to-High-Heaven lies?

Media:

The BP Oil Spill has taught us all over the world it's time to get serious about moving into alternative cleaner energy and away from fossil fuels. It's also time for every person on this planet to scream and protest all their leaders until their governments take up the charge into the future.

And the biggest loser this week? America's unemployed because the Greed Over Principle Republicans spit on every unemployed American desperate to put a roof over their heads and put food on the table. There should be a wall of shame publicly displayed of all the unpatriotic Americans who voted not to extend unemployment benefits to fellow Americans in need.
