“With its chic, feminine and pared-down fashion, free from ostentation, the House today offers an inspired and accessible ready-to-wear collection” – this is the description of the French brand Carven, according to their own website.
The description actually applies to the spring-summer 2011 collection that is featured on the site: it is feminine and chic, bold, but not over the top. You will find interesting geometrical shapes, black and white graphic prints and smart collars. The collection is based on pastels, and the blush and peach hues look incredibly sweet – I like to believe that no woman can say no to such colors.
Some of the dresses are wrapped and tight, some are draped and some have great volume in the bottom part. You can also find beautiful cocktail dresses, for a more official event. The tulip skirt is also fashionable, but shorts are a nice alternative as well. The shorts-blazer-shirt combo can actually be appropriate for the office, if worn with heels and a suitcase-inspired handbag.
Two of the most inspiring items of this collection are the gray baby-doll trench coat and the blush jacket-dress. Influenced by the classic and classy 50s look, these are must-have pieces for the next season.
The shoes to match this collection look like they have wings: made of black suede, with a big bow in the back, they can bring a simple outfit in the center of attention.
